Privacy Policy

Glean is a peer-to-peer link-sharing app: you curate a few links a week for a small circle of mutually accepted friends, and their home-screen widget updates. This policy explains exactly what data Glean collects, why, and how to delete it.

Who runs Glean

Glean is operated by Muly Gelman, an individual developer. Contact: support@glean.app.

What Glean collects

Account identifier from Sign in with Apple. If you choose Apple's private email relay, Glean only ever sees the relay address.
Profile you provide: a username, display name, and optional avatar image.
Device push token from Apple, so Glean can wake your widget when a friend shares a drop.
Friend graph: usernames you have mutually accepted as friends.
Drops you share: the URL you shared, who you sent it to, the time, and metadata extracted from the URL (title, hero image, source domain). Glean does not host the original content — every drop deep-links to the source.
Reactions: which emoji you tapped on which drop. Reactions are visible only to the original sender.
Subscription status (free or premium) from RevenueCat, if you upgrade.
Diagnostics: anonymized crash reports (Sentry) and basic product analytics (PostHog, EU region). No advertising identifiers, no contact list, no location.

What Glean does NOT collect

Your contacts, phone number, or address book.
Your precise or coarse location.
Browsing history outside of URLs you explicitly share via the Share Sheet.
Advertising or tracking identifiers.
Anything you didn't tap "Send" or "Save" on.

How Glean uses your data

The data above is used solely to operate the service: authenticate you, deliver pushes to your devices, route drops to the recipients you chose, render the inbox and widget, and process subscription state. Glean does not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Where data is stored

Account, friendship, and drop data are stored in Supabase (Postgres + Storage) in the EU region. Push delivery uses Apple Push Notification service. Subscription receipts are validated by RevenueCat. Diagnostics use Sentry and PostHog (EU region).

Retention

Drops you sent or received are retained until you or the original sender delete them, or you delete your account.
Reactions are retained alongside the drop they're attached to.
Diagnostics are retained for 90 days and then deleted.
Deleted accounts: all profile, friendship, drop, and reaction data tied to your user ID is removed within 30 days. Backups roll over within a further 30 days.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app: Settings → Delete account. This is irreversible. If you can't access the app, email support@glean.app from the Apple ID address associated with the account and we will action the deletion within 7 days.

Your rights

If you're in the EU/UK, you have rights under GDPR/UK GDPR to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to object to processing. Email support@glean.app. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

Glean is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). Sign in with Apple gates accounts to Apple's own age requirements. If you believe a child has created an account, email support@glean.app and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above will change and the in-app Settings → Privacy link will continue to point here. Significant changes will be surfaced in-app.
